Using an Autoresponder to Publish an Ezine
The Great Ideazine is brought to you this week by Impact Audio - Put professional sounding audio on your site with this simple to use software. I bought it. I love it, so I bought the resell rights to it. I am featuring it this week for $7, but next week it goes back to $47, so get it now! Check it out at Impact Audio.
Well the migraine moved on and life is much better. Last week I talked about a teleprompter program that I acquired and said that I would tell you more this week. I haven't really had a chance to put it through it paces as I have been playing with the Impact Audio program *8>) Although it works wonders, I don't think that I am ready for a prime time broadcast job yet. I have chosen not to load my sites with audio for at least one more week, just to let the shine wear off this new toy a bit before making any heavy decisions.
Managing your list and your newsletter can be a large pain if you are forced to do it manually. An autoresponder can automate and make this task less tedious.
Using an Autoresponder to Publish an Ezine
If you would be successful on the web, you need access to an autoresponder. There are many practical uses for an autoresponder such as using it to publish and distribute an ezine or newsletter. Since autoresponder services usually are set up to send automatic responses to the people on a list at certain intervals after they sign up, setting up an autoresponder to send out an ezine can be a little confusing.
The Broadcast Feature
Depending on the service or autoresponder that you are using, you will have a ‘broadcast’ feature. The broadcast feature works essentially the same as the autoresponse feature, with one big difference. The messages are not sent out at intervals after a person signs up. The messages can, however, be scheduled to go out on a certain day, which has no bearing on when the subscriber was actually added to the mailing list.
Broadcast messages are ‘one time’ messages that are only sent to your current mailing list. People who sign up for your list after the broadcast has been sent do not receive it, unless they specifically request it from a special autoresponder address, which you must set up.
Using the broadcast feature of most autoresponder services, you can simply go and either type your newsletter, or copy and paste it into the editor, then choose to send the broadcast to your entire mailing list. Most advanced autoresponder services will usually have a broadcasting feature, but you may have to poke around a little to find it.
Maintaining Your List With Your Autoresponder
Using your autoresponder or autoresponder service to maintain your mailing list and to distribute your newsletter is a wonderful idea. With most autoresponders, your subscribers can easily opt-in, or opt-out, and all of the newsletter distribution is handled for you, based on the schedule that you set. Once your list has grown to a reasonable size, list maintenance can become very difficult without the automation that autoresponders can provide.
The real beauty of using an autoresponder for your mailing list is that you can write each issue of your ezine or newsletter well in advance; have it delivered to your mailing list on a set date and time, regardless of where you are or what you are doing. Ain't automation grand!
Since most autoresponders allow all past broadcast and autoresponse messages to be saved, you can easily refer back to old issues, or allow visitors to request past issues. With many autoresponders, you can also use the tracking feature throughout each issue of the newsletter to determine how many clicks you are getting for the various products or web sites that you promote in your ezine.
If you have not yet purchased an autoresponder or signed up with any autoresponder service, make sure that you inquire about the broadcast feature first. Not all autoresponders or autoresponder services have this feature, and as your marketing progresses, you will find that this is one of the most useful features of the autoresponder service or program. Once you have settled upon an autoresponder or autoresponder service, you may find it very difficult to move, so ask your questions first!
Until next time…
