Been working on cable and plumbing problems for the last week. Don't know what the problem with the cable is, but channels 5 and 6 get snowy. But just on one TV. Tried using the vcr as the tuner, same problem. Replace the connection in the wall. Everything was great for a day, now it's back??? Got a drip in the kitchen tap. Turns out the plumber never put shut-off taps on the kitchen sink. Got some shut-off taps, took everything out from under the sink and it turns out they used a narrower feed pipe from the 1/2" copper to the taps. I can't get enough 1/2" pipe to install the shut-off. I guess I'll have to get one of those braided supply lines and put in copper to compression shut-offs. Always something *8>)
Just a reminder that I am turning the Idea Vault into a paid membership site next week. Current subscribers to The Great Ideazine will have free access to the site, so make sure that if you haven't already signed up that you do so now! Members should look for information about the membership site and registration instructions sometime next week.
I am always working to get a higher placement for my sites on the search engines. I am not always successful in getting my sites on the first page of Google. About a month ago I read a new ebook on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and picked up a couple of tips. I was really surprised to find that the three sites where I used the new ideas on jumped from lacklustre placements to the first page on Google, and first place on Yahoo. I ran out and bought the rights to the ebook. If you need some SEO tips for your sites, you can find the ebook on Ebooks and More *8>)
After all the hassle with the Adsense Video Site Creator on my Linux servers, I tested it on a Windows server and am really impressed with its operation. With only a minimum of input from you - your Adsense publisher id, your Amazon seller code, your FTP info and the keywords you want to feature, the program does the rest. If you are interested, I have it on special HERE.
I am still adding to the deals at ebooks and more every day. Check it out.
Cheap, Effective, Internet Marketing
Why Internet Marketing Does Not Work Without SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) should be considered an integral part of any Internet marketing strategy. SEO is important because there is so much which can be gained in terms of effective Internet marketing and advertising. Failure to optimize your website for search engines can result in losing out on a considerable amount of the free advertising which is essentially gained from ranking well with search engines. Today, I will provide insight into what SEO is and will explain why Internet marketing requires at least some degree of SEO.
SEO optimization is a strategy in which a website is designed to obtain favourable search engine rankings from the popular search engines, mainly Google. This may be achieved in a variety of different ways. An optimal SEO campaign combines a variety of different strategies. When optimizing your site, keep in mind that the objective of search engines is to provide Internet users with the most relevant websites for particular search terms. Anything that you can do to help them with this objective will be warmly received by the search engines. Anything you do to trick the search engines will eventually be found out and your sites will be punished.
There are several elements to consider when attempting to optimize your website for search engines. Since it is by far the largest search engine, I will bias my presentation in that direction. Relevant elements include keyword density and prominence, META tags (possibly ignored by Google), titles, image tags and inbound links.
Keyword density is one of the most common SEO strategies and essentially involves using relevant keywords often in the content of a website to demonstrate the relevance of these keywords. Keywords should appear in the heading of the site, using the <.h1> (take out the dot) attribute, and several times within the first 150 words or so. This is important because search engines are likely to reward websites with optimal keyword densities that provide Internet users with the most relevant material for particular search terms.
The prominence of keywords should also be considered. This includes how close the keywords are placed to the beginning of the website. The common mistake with this strategy is to believe the first opportunity to incorporate keywords is in the first line of visible text on the web page. This is not true because search engines crawl the code of a website as opposed to the visible content on the website. This means there are multiple opportunities to incorporate relevant keywords long before the actual visible content on the website. This might include the code for the title as well as the META tags. Business owners who realize the potential for incorporating keywords into the code gain an advantage over competitors who only incorporate keywords into the content on their website.
Another area of concern which is very important for those who are interested in SEO is inbound links. Inbound links are essentially links which reside on other websites and direct traffic to your website. These links are considered important because many search engines place a value on inbound links because they are essentially an example of one website recommending another website. However, when obtaining inbound links it is important to do so from other websites which rank well with search engines because many search engines consider the rank of the original website when determining the value of the inbound link. It is also important that the referring sites be authorities in the area your site is trying rank well for. Most search engines give very little weight to links from unrelated sites.
Now that I have briefly explained some of the main concept of SEO, I will illustrate why it is important to optimize your website in the first place. SEO is so important because most Internet users highly value the results of search engines and are likely to only visit ranking websites when searching for a particular keyword. Internet users trust search engines to serve the most relevant content first and are therefore not likely to visit websites which do not fall on the first or second pages of search results. This means websites which rank well essentially are receiving a great deal of free advertising from search engines that place their website in a key position. Website owners who do not invest time into optimizing their websites miss out on a great deal of this free web traffic.
