Make Your Own YouTube Videos
Are you a fan of YouTube? Are you one of the many Internet users who only watch videos on YouTube? Have you thought of being one of the many who post their own videos on YouTube? Is putting videos on YouTube worth your time and effort? Determining whether or not you should make and upload your own videos to the YouTube website, is a task you should undertake quite quickly. Are there any advantages for you? What are the pitfalls?
YouTube videos can be on just about anything. Popular videos on YouTube right now include comedy skits, video blogs, how-to videos, and music videos from up and coming artists. Many videos contain information about products that are for sale. Successful videos have included information to lead viewers to the entrepreneur’s website. YouTube allows a web link to appear on each video download page. You can exploit this link for your business.
Remember, that even though uploading a video is free, as an entrepreneur you cannot afford to upload worthless content just to get a link. Viewers are very protective of the time spent viewing videos, and will quickly dump any provider that does not entertain or enlighten them. YouTube accepts videos on a wide variety of different subjects, and you should have not trouble to find a niche where you can promote your product or service.
Just a side note, make sure that you don’t record and post anything illegal on YouTube. YouTube works with law enforcement when videos of illegal acts surface. Remember, you never know who will watch your videos.
Video Making Equipment
Making a video is relatively easy. You need some type of video recording device. You can use almost anything - video cell phone, web cam, digital camera with video options, home video camera, right on up to a professional video camera.
Once you create your video, you will want to do some editing to “fix up” the inevitable glitches and fumbles. Techsmith offers a free version of Camtasia. Microsoft offers a free video editing package also. Or, of course, you could always buy one of the big professional packages. Your video production can be as inexpensive or expensive as your budget allows.
Note that many great video makers never appear on-screen, particularly in how-to videos. I’m working on a series of videos that I star in, but my face is never visible! I'll let you know when they are posted.
Be aware that viewers have very short attention spans so the best videos are only a few minutes long. If you are dealing with a more complex topic, you would be well advised to edit your long video into several shorter videos - unless of course that would destroy your message. Remember, the more videos you have on YouTube, the better the chance that your intended audience will find one.
Uploading Your Video
Once you have made one of your videos and have it on your computer, you will find that getting it uploaded to YouTube’s website is very simple. In fact, uploading a video to YouTube is so easy that even first timers don’t have any problems. Once you have your first video uploaded, you’ll be champing at the bit to do another. Some folks, with no expectation of profit, have uploaded over 50 videos!
The greatest benefit of making your own videos and uploading them to YouTube is that there is the potential for thousands of viewers to see your message because anyone with an Internet connection can visit the YouTube website to view your videos.
In fact, if those viewers are registered members of YouTube they can rate your YouTube videos or even leave comments for you. This feature is nice because if you have done a good job, you will get positive feedback that will raise the popularity of your video. If you get any negative feedback, you can take that into consideration when you make your next YouTube video.
As a businessperson, the advantages of making videos for YouTube are many. You can develop brand awareness and drive potential buyers to your website. If you have a creative bent, your videos can become popular in their own right. Maybe you can develop a new career as a movie maker *8>) and even develop a cult following. All of this is good for your business. Are you missing out on this great promotional opportunity?
P.S. Have you seen my new site Mr Idea's Ebookstore. As the name implies it is stocked with ebooks, scripts, websites and more.
